Furball Gala video for the Humane Society Cayman

Students on the BTEC Level 2 Creative Media Production have recently completed a  live project with the Cayman Islands Humane Society. They were chosen to produce a short film that highlights the great work of the Humane Society to be shown at the Furball Gala.

They spent a month filming on location and working closely with the Humane Society’s staff and animals. Jonassi McLean is the Sound Designer for the production. He says, “this has been a great experience, I’ve had the chance to work on my sound editing and writing skills. I’ve also learnt how important it is to be able to communicate with others on the team”. Director of Photography Jacinda Simms found the experience rewarding, “it was really good working with animals even if sometimes they don’t follow directions! I got to learn about operating different cameras and filming techniques. I also liked being on location with my team and learning new things from my teacher”. Mrs Musser is the course leader for the CIFEC Creative Media courses. “This has been a fantastic opportunity for the students and they now understand the pressure when working to a clients deadline!”  We also had the opportunity to promote the Humane Society and the film  on Cayman 27 news.

The Humane Society have been very impressed with the professionalism of the students and also invited some students to assist with photography at the Furball Gala. Gabriel Morla is the Director for the film, he says, “it’s been great because I’ve been working for a real client. I can’t wait to see the film on the big screen at the Furball Gala  and learn from a professional photographer.”

The film premiered to over 300 people at the fundraising event the, Furball Gala dinner on the 8th April 2017.
